A local man is cycling his way across southwestern Ontario to support those receiving end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent.
Jeff Thibert is making his way from Tilbury to Paris, Ontario and back again, twice, hoping to cover 1200 kilometres in 90 hours.
Cyclist Thibert and organizer Brad McAuliffe are aiming to raise $12,000 for Kilometres for Care at Chatham-Kent Hospice, supporting hospice navigators who travel across the municipality to visit those with an end-of-life diagnosis. The funds raised are expected to cover transportation costs for as many as 30 hospice clients.
Officials with Chatham-Kent Hospice say transportation costs to the Chatham facility are not always covered by government funding, and community fundraisers like this make a huge difference.
