A day full of hockey is helping fill the shelves at Outreach for Hunger.
Saturday marked Chatham-Kent Cyclones Hockey Day, with the local teams hosting a slate of seven games.
Ken Gagner, head coach of the minor bantam team and director of the Cyclones organization says it’s an annual event that they hope to see grow.
“Next year we’re going to change it to probably a bigger event, at least we hope to depending on ice availability and seeing other things we can contribute to the community,” Gagner says. “Because at the end of the day that’s what it’s about, we’re all from the same community and trying to help those less fortunate than us.
The Cyclone Day collected about 400 to 500 pounds of food for the Chatham food bank.
