Dangerous Driving Charge Laid After Car Crashes Into Garage

A local man is facing charges after a car crashed through a fence and into a residential garage in Tilbury.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a residence on Donais Line after the homeowner heard a loud crash outside at around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday. The resident found that a car had left the road and smashed through a fence before crashing into a large shed.

Two of the three occupants in the vehicle attempted to leave but were stopped by the homeowner. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to the three occupants, who had suffered minor injuries.

Following an investigation, a 37-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and is now charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a January court date.

Damage caused by the crash is estimated at over $40,000.
