The clock is ticking for anyone who wants a final say on the future of Wallaceburg’s water treatment facility.
Municipal officials say the plant, which was built in 1946, raw water intake, and low-lift pump station have reached the end of their life expectancy, requiring frequent repairs and replacements.
The Chatham-Kent PUC is considering building a new facility to supply Wallaceburg, Dresden, and future greenhouse development on Base Line, with public input being collected now for the third and final time.
The two other solutions including constructing a new low-lift pump station and twinned raw watermain, and building a new transmission line between Wallaceburg and Dresden.
The deadline for submissions through the municipality’s Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website is August 29th.
The preferred design concepts are expected to be confirmed and the environmental study report published this fall.
