Decline in Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent

A dip in Chatham-Kent’s COVID numbers over the past week.

Wednesday’s weekly report from Chatham-Kent Public Health shows 57 confirmed cases between September 18th and the 24th, down from 101 the week before. The seven-day average has slipped to eight new high-risk case a day.

The positivity rate in Chatham-Kent has dropped to 9.1% compared to 11.8% the week previous. The provincial rate is holding steady at 11.5%.

Three new outbreaks have been declared, including two group homes. There are also 13 linked cases at Blenheim Community Village.

Since the pandemic began in March, 2020 there have been 9793 confirmed cases in Chatham-Kent and 86 deaths caused by the COVID-19.

Public health officials continue to stress case numbers are an underestimate of the total number of infections because of limited PCR testing.
