Performers from Toronto to Windsor competed at this years event. When the dust settled, Dee Chatel of Wallaceburg prevailed as this years winner. Finishing Second Paul Byers wowed the audience with a Righteous Brothers’ song, and Roy Orbison rendition, but it was C hatel’s sultry voice the captivated the audience at the CBD club in Wallaceburg.
Standing room only was available at the club, and those in attendance were treated to 12 amazing performers, and 24 songs before the night was over.
Dee Chatel, who had performed at several competitions over the years, had never seen the talent like this before. “It’s long awaited. I’ve been working really hard, and this competition is something I ‘ve wanted for a long time”
Dee’s sister also found the podium at this years event. Laurie McClure finished third, edging out performers from London, Michigan and many other communities.
“My sister and I have grown up around music, we’ve done competitions together many times before, and we’ve had success in other places, but this is the first time I’ve won in Wallaceburg. It’s a big deal to w in here. I’ve grown up in Wallaceburg, and to win here, is a big deal. It’s just awesome to do it with my sister”
Chatel will take home a cheque for $1500 from Homeward Realty. Betty Tack was on hand to award the prize money.
“This was the best talent we’ve seen yet. We’re very excited to sponsor this event” The event not only provides great talent, but raises money for charity.
Organizer Earl Holly said that they event raised more than a ton of food, and $1500.00 for the Salvation Army.
