Deer-related collisions on the rise

The number of crashes involving deer on Chatham-Kent roads continues to rise.

According to stats from the OPP, there have now been 22 such collisions this year.

A few tips from police to help avoid a crash: Be especially attentive from sunset to midnight and during the hours shortly before and after sunrise, and brake firmly when you notice a deer in or near your path – don’t swerve.

Police say the best way to avoid a collision is to slow down and keep an eye on the shoulders of the road.
