Completion of the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant rehabilitation project is facing a multi-month delay.
During a CK Public Utilities Commission (PUC) meeting last Thursday, General Manager Darren Galbraith said the Wheatley plant was expected to be operational by August 31, however, due to the scope and size of the rehabilitation project, there have been multiple delays.
The treatment plant is now expected to be up and running sometime in November.
The Wheatley Water Treatment Plant has been shut down since a fire September 2023, which caused extensive damage to the facility.
For more than a year, water demands for Wheatley and Tilbury have been served by a mobile temporary water treatment system. Galbraith said the PUC will be taking that system offline in October and switching services over to the Leamington water system in preparation for the winter months.
