Another building is now slated to be torn down in Tilbury.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said a contractor will be on site on Monday to begin demolition of 45 Queen St. North. Demolition will also continue at 47 and 49 Queen St. North.
Partial demolition of 47 and 49 Queen St. North began nearly a year ago due to reports of a partially collapsed roof and structural failures. However, the work was put on hold after engineers discovered pre-existing structural defects of the walls of neighbouring buildings, including 45 Queen St. North.
Minor traffic disruptions are expected during the demolition process, which is expected to take around two weeks to complete. Queen Street North will remain open but residents are asked to use caution when in the area and to keep clear of the demolition site.
The fencing and traffic barriers will be removed, and the sidewalk reopened following the completion of the demolition.
