A celebration of Indian culture will take place in Chatham this weekend.
The Chatham Kent Asian Cultural Association will be hosting a Diwali event at Ursuline College on Saturday.
Diwali typically takes place between mid-September and mid-November, and was officially marked on October 31st this year. The Hindu festival of lights, celebrating the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
The evening begins with a dinner at 5:15 with a cost of $20 for adults, $15 for those 11 to 18, and free for children 10 and under. Tickets for dinner must be purchased in advance. Contact ckaca.events@gmail.com for more information.
The entertainment portion gets underway at 7 and is free of charge and open to all ages. The festivities include a community children’s program, Indian music, Bollywood dances, Bhangra dance performances, and more.
