It could be a little nippy when you wake up Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada has issued the first frost advisory of the season for Chatham-Kent and southwestern Ontario.

A frost advisory is issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says if it seems earlier than usual, it is.

“Sometimes the temperatures do get below seasonal, and this is certainly a cold stretch. Overnight lows right now should be 5 or 6 degrees so it is cooler than usual but it does happen from time to time because after all, fall is a transitional season”.

So make sure you cover your plants tonight, and bring in your pets.
