Domestic Dispute Leads To Charges For Pair

A man and a woman are facing charges after an argument escalated to violence in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the domestic dispute on Taylor Avenue at around 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Officers arrived to find several people standing outside the address and learned that during a verbal argument, the man allegedly pushed a woman to the ground and prevented her from leaving a room until a third person intervened.

The man then followed the woman out of the room and allegedly assaulted her again.

As a result, the 22-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault and forcible confinement.

The 19-year-old Wallaceburg woman was also arrested on an outstanding warrant and was charged with failing to comply with a release order that she was not to communicate with the man.

The pair were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
