A local woman has been charged after a domestic dispute turned violent in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a disturbance at a Lorne Avenue home at around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
Authorities learned that a man and woman had been arguing when the situation escalated and the woman assaulted the man.
The victim was uninjured.
As a result, a 44-year-old woman is now charged with assault and assault with a weapon. She was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
