A youth centre in Dresden has improved its appearance and expanded floor space for programming thanks to donations from local community groups.

The Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre completed renovations on its exterior façade earlier this year with new siding, windows, and signage. As well, the centre’s backroom, which previously served as a storage room, has been completely renovated to provide more space.

“Sidestreets has been serving our local youth for over 21 years. These much-needed renovations will allow us to continue operating into the future,” said Sidestreets Board Chair Lori Ouellette in a news release.

The renovations were made possible thanks to funds provided by the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation, South Kent Wind, and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Community Improvement Plan Grant.

According to Sidestreets, its board members hope to raise enough money this year to open the centre five days a week and provide youth access to programming every weekday after school.
