Those looking to support the dozens of residents displaced by an apartment fire in Chatham now have several locations to make donations.

In response to an outpouring of community support, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and other organizations have set up a number of temporary donation drop-off locations for those affected by the fire on Sunday morning at 99 McNaughton Ave. W. Additional locations will be added when possible.

Donation drop-off locations currently include:

Donation items can include adult clothing for men and women, hygiene products and non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, fruit cups, apple sauce cups, crackers, cereal bars, granola bars, cereal, juice boxes, tea bags, instant coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer. Furniture items are currently not being accepted.

Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) is also seeking donations of dog food, cat food, and kitty litter for pets that have been temporarily housed at the shelter.

Fire officials continue to investigate the apartment fire, which affected 90 of the building’s 120 units. The cause of the fire and a damage estimate have yet to be determined.
