United Way volunteers will be busy this week, organizing donations for Operation Backpack.
The program provides backpacks and school supplies for families in need across the community.
Coordinator Jean Lacina says while the application process has now closed, there’s still time to help.
“Right now we’re still looking for smaller stuff like highlighters, lined paper, pens, and pencil sharpeners, but other than that we’re looking pretty good.”
Lacina says they’re grateful for the support they’ve received so far, and anything that’s not used this year can be saved for next fall.
Backpacks and supplies will be available for pickup on Wednesday at the United Way office in Chatham, and in Tilbury and Wallaceburg on Thursday.
