Heather Bakker with the Chatham-Kent group says the message is simple.
“Please don’t drink and drive,” Bakker says. “Crashes by impaired driving are completely preventable, and we’re just asking people not to drink and drive and to make that decision before they head out.”
Bakker says drinking and driving can affect everyone, and while there does seem to have been a decrease in the number of crashes involving impaired drivers the message is still important.
“It affects everybody, it’s not just the person that died and it’s not just the driver of the car, it’s the families of both sides that are affected.”
The official Festive RIDE program kicked off last Friday, and police will be out in force over the holidays, watching out for not only impaired drivers, but distracted and unsafe motorists as well.
