As deer become more active in the fall months, provincial police are urging drivers to be extra vigilant on the roads.
Ontario Provincial Police in Lambton County issued a warning this weekend and said officers continue to respond to collisions involving deer in the region.
Authorities are asking drivers to take precautions and stay alert for deer crossing the roadways, particularly during dawn and dusk when visibility is reduced.
According to police, drivers should avoid swerving if a deer is in their path to ensure they don’t lose control of their vehicle, causing a serious collision. Instead, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and brake firmly.
Anyone who witnesses a collision should immediately call 911.
