A local farmer is being singled out for his support of the wind industry.
The Canadian Wind Energy Association held its annual awards ceremony in Calgary last week with Doug Smith, a landowner in the North Kent Wind project, given the Friend of Wind Award.
The same honour was given to outgoing Mayor Randy Hope back in 2016.
The accolade is presented to individuals or groups for their “outstanding voluntary contributions to advancing awareness of the benefits of wind energy at the community level.”
