Downtown Argument Leads to Mischief Charges

A Chatham woman spent some time behind bars after a disturbance in downtown Chatham.

Officers were called to Fourth Street just after 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon where a man and woman had been arguing.

Witnesses told police the woman knocked her own head against the window of a local business, breaking the glass.

The pair left the scene before officers arrived, but were found a short distance away. The woman, who police say was under the influence of an intoxicating substance, was arrested and held in custody until she sobered up.

She has since been charged with mischief, and will have to face a judge in court next month.
