Charges have been laid after a disturbance near downtown Chatham resulted in one person spraying another with a fire extinguisher.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the disturbance at a multi-unit residential building on King Street East at around 10 p.m. on Monday.

Authorities learned that a fire extinguisher had been used in the building to spay a person during the incident. Following an investigation, the individuals were located.

As a result, a 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief and failing to comply with a release order. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
