Dozens Of Charges Laid Following Vehicle Theft Investigation

A local man is facing two dozen charges for vehicle-related offences following a police investigation.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man allegedly operated stolen vehicles throughout multiple jurisdictions while prohibited from driving on multiple occasions between February and March. He also allegedly used unauthorized license plates on the vehicles.

The accused, who was already being held at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre, is now additionally charged with ten counts of driving while prohibited, five counts of driving while under suspension, five counts of using a plate not authorized for a vehicle, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, and tampering with vehicle identification number.

He was issued an additional court date and remains in custody at the detention centre.
