Live racing returns to Dresden Raceway this Victoria Day weekend.
Monday marks the start of the 11-date season, featuring “Derby Hat Day,” with fans encouraged to wear their fanciest hat for the chance to win some prizes.
There were originally 10 races slated for opening day, however officials say that’s been limited to 7 because of winter tracks finishing their season and summer tracks starting up, resulting in a shortage of horses in Ontario.
The Dresden Raceway website lists a number of COVID safety protocols in place, including mandatory masks except when eating, drinking, or smoking, advanced cleaning, limited capacity, contactless wagering, and proof of vaccination for guests 12 and older.
