For the second straight year, the Dresden event has been named the number one fundraiser per capita in Ontario, bringing in just shy of $33,000.
Spokesperson Cindy Brewer says it’s all about community.
“We have support from a lot of our support groups – the firemen, the Kinsmen, the Legion, the Rotary. It’s a family tradition for a lot of our participants, they could out with their children year after year”, says Brewer.
Since the first Dresden run in 1996, the event has brought in over $534,000.
“Eight-two cents of every dollar is donated straight to research, so you’re not paying for a corporate office or a lot of wages. [The Foundation has been] very true to that”, Brewer explains.
Registration is now open for this year’s Terry Fox Run, being held September 17th.
