A Chatham man will have to answer to a judge in court after he was allegedly caught drinking and driving.
The Ontario Provincial Police said an officers stopped a vehicle on Park Avenue East near Stirling Lane in Chatham at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, after spotting a known suspended driver.
After confirming the driver’s identity, the man was arrested without incident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer also detected signs that he had been drinking. A roadside breath test was used which registered an alert.
As a result, a 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged with driving while prohibited, driving under suspension, driving with an open container of liquor, and driving without a validated permit.
His vehicle will also be impounded for 45 days.
