Drivers Charged Following Hwy 401 Crashes In Tilbury

Two people have been charged following separate collisions in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Tilbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police said one transport truck rear-ended another that had slowed down in the construction zone near Queens Line on Sunday at around 5:15 p.m.

No one was injured, but a 22-year-old Niagara Falls resident is now charged with careless driving.

The following day on Monday, four transport trucks collided in the same area at around 12 p.m.

One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 22-year-old London man has since been charged with careless driving in connection with the crash.

Following both collisions, the westbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours while the vehicles were cleared from the scene.

According to the OPP, there have been six collisions in Highway 401 construction zones within Chatham-Kent since the beginning of April.
