Driver Flees Wallaceburg Crash

A Wallaceburg woman has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a collision.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the crash at Main Street and Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and found that a vehicle involved had left the scene.

Police have not released any further details about the collision.

Shortly after, officers located a vehicle with visible damage consistent with the collision on University Drive. However, the driver refused to identify herself and appeared intoxicated. Officers also found open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle.

As a result, a 46-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters for testing, which she allegedly refused.

She is now charged with failing to remain at a collision, obstructing a peace officer, impaired driving, mischief under $5,000, refusing a breath demand, and driving without insurance. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
