Drug Charges Laid After Police Stop Stolen Vehicle

A Cedar Springs man is facing several charges, including drug possession, after police stopped a stolen vehicle in Chatham-Kent.

CK police said officers pulled the vehicle over on Charing Cross Road Tuesday morning. During a search, the driver was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

Officers arrested the driver and took him to police headquarters. There, he was tested by a Drug Recognition Expert who determined that he was also intoxicated.

As a result, a 42-year-old Cedar Springs man was charged with impaired driving, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, driving while under suspension, and drug possession.
