Drugs, Weapons Seized After Road Rage Incident Prompts Search Warrant

A road rage incident has led to weapon and drug charges for a man and a woman from Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the man was involved in the road rage incident at Park Avenue West and Keil Drive South in Chatham on May 26, which led officers to conduct an investigation and obtain a search warrant for the man’s home.

Officers with the Intelligence Unit executed the search warrant in Chatham on Tuesday at around 7:15 p.m. and seized 32 grams of MDMA and 26 grams of cocaine with a street value of around $4,800. Police also located and seized two sets of brass knuckles, digital scales, packaging material, a large quantity of Canadian currency, and a cell phone.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested without incident at the scene. A 29-year-old woman from Chatham later turned herself in at police headquarters in connection with the same incident on Friday.

Both of the accused are now charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon. The pair have since been released from custody with future court dates scheduled for July.
