A local politician doesn’t think the Ontario Liberals have all their ducks in a row.
Chatham-Kent-Essex MPP Rick Nicholls says the government’s plan to spend $200,000 on a six-storey tall inflatable duck is simply quacked.
“They’re bringing this in to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary and I understand that, but for heaven’s sake, a duck I realize it’s fun for kids, but we have school closings, and we’re fighting a housing crisis,”
says Nicholls. “This government has to get its priorities straight, and I think there are better ways to attract people for a fun day.”
The duck, which is meant to help celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, is set to make appearances in a handful of communities across the province throughout the summer.
