Dufferin, McNaughton Intersection To Close Again

Residents should expect traffic delays this week with a major Wallaceburg intersection set to close once again.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has announced that the Dufferin Avenue rehabilitation project will close the road at McNaughton Avenue on Wednesday at 7 a.m. to allow for the installation of surface asphalt.

The intersection will remain closed until Thursday at 7 p.m., however, the closure may be extended up to Saturday due to potential weather-related delays.

Should the work last into the weekend, municipal officials say the contractor will ensure work is stopped prior to and during Saturday’s Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph.

A detour will be in place for Highway 40 during the closure, utilizing Base Line, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street.

The intersection was previously closed for construction back in September.

The Dufferin Avenue project began earlier this summer and includes the rehabilitation of 1.9 km of the road from the McNaughton Avenue intersection to 90 metres west of Walnut Drive. Work is expected to be completed in 2023, with restoration to be completed in spring 2024.
