Chatham-Kent council will vote Monday night on a tender for a scaled-back dust control plan for the municipality’s gravel roads.
Council will vote on approving a $263,558 bid from Den-Mar Brines Limited for the supply and application of dust suppressants.
At the June 9 meeting, council voted to bring back a partial application of dust suppressants for Chatham-Kent after it was eliminated from the Public Works operating budget during the 2025 budget deliberation process.
The tender is for dust suppressants to be applied to anywhere between 20 and 40 percent of the municipality’s gravel roads before October 1. Two bids were submitted during the posting deadline, with the one from the Bothwell company being the lowest.
Funding for the project will be pulled from the municipality’s strategic reserves.
Council will also vote on whether or not to direct administration to return with a report ahead of next year’s procurement process to help determine if full dust control should be reinstated in 2026.
