EFTO Outraged At Strike Funding for Parents

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is lashing out at the province, accusing the Ford Government of using taxpayer money to bribe parents of kids caught in the middle of a labour dispute.

The government has offered to reimburse parents of children up to grade seven as much as $60 a day for child care expenses when teachers walk off the job.

Meantime, the union says school boards in Toronto, York, and Ottawa will be affected by a full withdrawal of services next Monday.

Public high school teachers will continue rotating one-day strikes next Tuesday, although the Lambton Kent District School Board will not be affected.

And English Catholic schools across the province will be impacted by a one-day strike by members of the OECTA on Tuesday, including elementary and high schools under the St Clair Catholic District School Board.
