Elevator Needed at Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre

The Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre is looking to add an elevator to its facility.

The James Street facility is in the former Carnegie Hall building, and has a current lease with the municipality that runs until the end of 2025. The Centre would like to apply for grants to have an elevator installed.

The grant parameters stipulate that the facility needs to be owned by the applicant or that the applicant must be in a long-term lease arrangement to qualify, which is why Chatham-Kent council is likely to approve an 11-year lease with the Wallaceburg Senior Citizens Club, which operates the Centre, at tonight’s council meeting.

An elevator in this building will improve accessibility for older adults, as well as potentially increase club membership and the value of the building.
