Grand Ave in Chatham has been closed for more than a month, but for area businesses and drivers, the end is in sight.
The road will be partially paved Friday and should reopen partially that night.
According to Jordan Gray, Drainage Superintendent for the municipality, there was some unforeseen work.
“It’s definitely been a challenge, Grand Ave is a very old travelled way and things have changed a lot over the years,” Gray says. “There’s a lot of infrastructure under the ground we either weren’t aware of or was causing us a lot of conflicts, but we worked all that out, it took a little longer than we had hoped.”
The westbound lanes will be paved first, with the eastbound following suit in the near future. Gray says there’s some additional watermain work to do on the south side of the road.
