With each passing year, local schools get smaller and smaller.
There are less than 22,000 students in the Lambton Kent District School board in 2019, a drop of more than 2700 in the past decade.
That’s according to the recent accommodation review, which reveals there are almost 8400 empty spaces in the board’s classrooms.
There isn’t much in the way of a silver lining, with enrollment expected to drop another 600 plus students in the next ten years.
There are currently 62 schools across the board.
