With a reported two million Floridians without power, Chatham-Kent’s water and electricity provider is once again answering the call for help.

Entegrus staff are making their way to Florida to support local crews to help restore power in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

A team of 14 will be joined by crews from Bluewater Power, ERTH Power, Essex Powerlines, and E.L.K. Energy to provide disaster relief.

“As we’ve done in the past, Entegrus is proud to help our American counterparts in the face of natural disasters,” said Entegrus President and CEO Jim Hogan in a news release.” Our crews are experienced and well-equipped to handle the challenging conditions these hurricanes present, and we remain committed to ensuring safety throughout the restoration process. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the storms.”

Tomo Matesic, Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Entegrus, noted that the duration of the crew’s stay will depend on the extent of the damage and the challenges posed by both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. “Our team will assess the situation upon arrival and could be on site for several weeks to ensure power is restored safely and efficiently,” Matesic said.

Previously, Entegrus supported Florida Power & Light during Hurricane Irma in 2017 and responded to other significant events, including Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
