A local utility has provided a financial boost to help bring the Special Olympics to Chatham-Kent this spring.

Entegrus, on behalf of shareholder Corix Infrastructure, has donated $10,000 toward the 2024 Special Olympics Ontario School Championship Games.

The event will see more than 1,200 athletes with diverse abilities competing in several sports.

“Corix and Entegrus understand our roles in the energy sector
of powering progress when it comes to inclusivity, and the need for financial support for community-focused initiatives that celebrate diverse talents, such as the Ontario Special Olympics,” said Jim Hogan, president and CEO of Entegrus, in a news release.

The games will take place between June 10-12 in Chatham and Ridgetown.
