SUMMARY:Artist Talk and Unveiling of Bernie Hrytzak's Ukrainian Commission
DESCRIPTION:CK artist Bernie Hrytzak will unveil his recently completed commission for a Ukrainian Culture Museum on Thursday April 7th at ARTspace. The talk will begin at 7:00 pm at ARTspace located at 165 ½ King St West in Chatham.\n\nWidely recognized for his artistry and skills with woodturning\, Hrytzak was commissioned by the Musée Ukraina in Saskatoon to design and create a one-of-a-kind book cover to feature in their museum. The panels for the front and back of this incredible bookbinding feature Ukrainian cultural motifs and are constructed out of intricate layers of figured veneers and brightly coloured abalone.\n\nThe design phase of this work began in October of last year and the piece is now completed. The commission will be on its way to Saskatchewan soon. Before it does\, the artist has kindly agreed to present it to an audience here in CK. Hrytzak will speak about the rich tradition of Ukrainian design and how this work will help protect and support the legacy of this influential culture in Canada even as it is under threat in Europe.\n\nThe talk will occur at ARTspace Thursday\, April 7\, starting at 7:00 pm. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. DESCRIPTION:Collect pledges\, get out and join us as we hike at Mud Creek Trail between April 25-May 1\, 2022 in support of Hospice residents and their families.\n\nOf course\, if you can’t make it out to Mud Creek\, you can participate remotely by completing your hike wherever you would like. The important thing is to get active while raising essential funds to support future Hospice residents and families.\n\nAlthough this event is free\, we encourage participants to register. There you will also be able to purchase a commemorative Hike for Hospice t-shirt or memorial signs that will be displayed along the trail throughout Hike week.
