Excavation of Third Wheatley Well Completed

A third well found in downtown Wheatley has now been fully excavated.

Municipal officials announced the discovery of a third area of potential environmental concern, or APEC, late last week.

A temporary venting system has been installed and air staples collected for lab analysis.

Officials say the next step, which should be done by the end of the week, includes placing cameras in all three wells to learn more about their construction and depth.

In the meantime, residents in the evacuation zone are being allowed access to their properties between any investigatory work.
