Louie Roesch with the Kent Federation of Agriculture says everyone needs to be cautious at this time of year.
“People feel they’ve been delayed – it’s still early yet. So if you get out going a couple of days early on this ground, when this clears up and goes away, it could totally reverse itself, and then you’ll be in trouble”, Roesch says.
Roesch says corn should typically be planted by mid-May, and soybeans around mid-June, but there are always exceptions when it comes to the weather.
He says more rain is on the way, and weather is something we can’t control.
“Two and a quarter inches [of rain has fallen so far] and it looks like it’s going to rain all day today. Regardless of how anything goes, you always have to remember who’s in control, and that’s Mother Nature and you always have to work with her”, says Roesch.
