After a successful first year, the Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market is looking ahead to 2018.
Committee member Rachelle Floin says planning for next summer’s markets starts soon.
“We’re going to be starting the preparations next month, we’re going to have our first meeting to kick off the conversation about 2018,”
It’s looking like we’ll be aiming for a Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market to be once a month, hopefully coinciding with a downtown festival or event that will already be going on.”
As well as expanding the number of dates, the committee is also looking to attract more vendors.
“We’re definitely always looking for more vendors,” Floin explains. “We do like to be strict with our split, we want about 70-75% perishable items: veggies, meats, cheeses, food products; and about 25% artisans.”
Nearly 4000 people visited the market across the three dates this past summer.
