Federal Budget To Be Introduced This Afternoon

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his deputy P.M. and finance minister Chrystia Freeland will be walking a tightrope this afternoon.

Shortly after 4 PM Freeland will deliver the fed’s first budget in 2 years. It will be the first since the pandemic began, and delivered with a minority government.

Freeland has already hinted at up to 100 billion in stimulus funding for the next 3 years. There is also a promise to green up the economy and develop a national child care strategy.

But with the pandemic ongoing there will be billions poured into emergency spending and health care costs. The emergency spending last year has already been described as equal to World War 2 levels.
