The provincial and federal governments are helping to support a locally-owned fresh vegetable farm in Chatham-Kent through a food safety initiative.
Nature’s Finest Produce Ltd. has been awarded $150,000 through the governments’ Food Safety and Growth Initiative, to purchase an automatic carrot bagger and an optical automatic grader.
The province said these upgrades will help the family-owned and operated farm to improve production efficiency and position the business for long-term sustainable growth.
The Food Safety and Growth Initiative is funded through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a five-year, $3.5 billion investment by federal, provincial, and territorial governments to strengthen the competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of Canada’s agri-food sector.
