Municipal officials are looking for public input on the design of a new accessible baseball diamond in Chatham.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is encouraging local residents to share their comments on the concept design of Dream Field; a new regulation-size baseball diamond that is proposed for the Kiwanis Stadium site at 80 Tweedsmuir Ave.
The field would be the first accessible baseball diamond in Chatham-Kent to meet the needs of the Challenger baseball program.
“The addition of a new accessible field would reduce barriers to participation in the sport while also increasing our field capacity for existing groups already competing for limited field time,” said Ian Clark, CK’s manager of Parks, Recreation and Cemeteries, in a news release.
The concept was brought forward by a committee, which included members of the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame and Chatham Minor Baseball Association. CK Council previously voted to select the Kiwanis Stadium soccer pitch, located between Fergie Jenkins Field and Chatham Memorial Arena, as the preferred location for further design work and public consultation on the project.
The public can share their thoughts on the design of the baseball diamond on the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website by clicking here. The deadline for submissions is June 27.
