Feedback Wanted On CK Sports Facility Usage

Municipal officials are looking for feedback on local sports facilities.

An online survey has been launched through the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website, looking for input on how the municipality manages time at local arenas, sports fields, ball diamonds, and other sports facilities.

Ian Clark, Chatham-Kent’s Manager of Parks, Recreation and Cemeteries says the allocation policy is an important tool to ensure playable hours are distributed to groups fairly and consistently.

“These facilities are expensive public assets so our ultimate goal is to ensure the groups who are using them, and the way they are being used, is maximizing the facility’s benefit to the whole community,” Clark said in a news release.

There are 80 sports facilities across Chatham-Kent, and the new Sport Facilities Allocation Policy is expected to combine an updated Ice Allocation Policy with a new framework governing outdoor sport facilities.

Permits are issued to more than 150 seasonal groups for over 75,000 hours each year.

You can find the link to the survey on our website at ckxsfm.com. The deadline for comments is 3pm on Wednesday, March 6th. Submissions will be used to help develop a draft policy, which will be presented to further feedback later in the year.
