Fergie Jenkins In Legal Fight With His Foundation

Controversy between baseball Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins and his own charity.

The Chatham native and former Chicago Cub pitcher is looking to move the Fergie Jenkins Foundation’s headquarters from St Catharines to Chatham.

The Foundation was founded in 1999, and opened a museum in 2011 to house memorabilia from Jenkins’ career, black history archives, and keepsakes from family members and loved ones.

However, in a letter dated September 30th and made public on social media, the law firm of McKenzie Lake said litigation has commenced against the Fergie Jenkins Foundation and its board members, who have allegedly refused to return certain pieces of memorabilia.

The statement said Jenkins was “shocked and saddened to encounter resistance” from the board members, but is making no further comment as the matter is before the courts.
