More provincial funding is helping to support programming for seniors in the area.

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones announced $86,277.50 this week to support eight Seniors Active Living Centres (SALCs) in the riding, part of the fourth and final quarterly installment for this fiscal year.

Seniors Centres in Blenheim, Chatham, Morpeth, and Ridgetown have each received $12,500 in their final payments to support programming such a pickleball, shuffleboard, Zumba, and exercise classes.

A final payment of $10,675 has been given to the Tilbury and District Seniors Adult Centre Association, and $8020 for the Wheatley and District Friendship Club.

“The support of Seniors Active Living Centres ensures that our community’s older adults have access to programs and activities that enrich their lives and foster connections,” said MPP Trevor Jones. “This funding helps us celebrate the contributions of our seniors and reinforces the Ontario government’s commitment to their well-being.”

“This year, we have increased our investment in Seniors Active Living Centres by almost one million dollars over last year, providing seniors with more opportunities to access programs and supports,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Our government continues to invest in programs that improve the health and well-being of Ontario’s aging population.”
