Fire at Sam’s Hotel

No injuries have been reported after a fire at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg.

Witnesses say smoke was seen coming from the Dufferin Avenue building earlier this morning.

Captain Tom Stover says the investigation is in its early stages.

“Preliminary, it looks like a mattress fire, they did have a sprinkler system in the rooming house up there so we did a quick knock down,” Stover says. “There’s a lot of smoke damage and water damage right now.”

All residents have been evacuated and Victims’ Services has been called to give them whatever support is needed.

The investigation is continuing.
