An early morning fire on Wallaceburg has caused $100,000 in damage.
Assistant Fire Chief Bob Davidson says a passerby spotted the blaze on Murray Street around 3:30 this morning and called 9-1-1.
“On arrival they noticed a significant working fire that was extending up into the attic,” Davidson says. “Crews from Wallaceburg, Chatham, and Tupperville responded to the call and attacked the fire, working on it for several hours.”
Although the exact cause has yet to be determined, Davidson reminds all homeowners to smoke outdoors and never use flower pots as an ash tray.
